For the more adventurous, head north, and climb ‘the throne of Ara’, Mount Aragats (not to be mistaken with Noah’s peak), which exceeds 13,000ft. Try khorovats (skewers simmered in a clay oven), dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), delicately spiced keftas (meat skewers) and khapama - a succulent pumpkin stuffed with rice and dried fruits, served with traditional lavache bread.
